In addition to the keynote speaker and expert discussions, the coalition partners with NAMI Greater Corpus Christi to host a Friends & Family event to provide attendees an opportunity to ask specific questions. Over the years, the coalition has commissioned speakers from The Menninger Clinic, The University of Texas, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, The Department of Veterans Affairs, and other local agencies. Each symposium is held in September in accordance with World Suicide Prevention Day, which is acknowledged on September 10th.Įach year the symposium has grown in attendance and recognition. The second event works to gather and educate providers and professionals about various topics, such as, ethical dilemmas and prevention. The first event is intended for community members and professionals to gather in order to discuss specific services and support groups that are available throughout the Coastal Bend.
